Ultra‑Realism Best Selection from the Hoki Museum Collection

April 8 to May 17, 2026
Special Exhibition Room and Permanent Exhibition Room 4 and 5 on the Second Floor

A special exhibition opening in the spring of 2026

This will be the first time a collection compiled by the Hoki Museum is displayed in Kagawa. For this exhibition, 64 great works by 27 artists, including the hugely popular Hiroshi Noda and Sosuke Morimoto, other noteworthy artists, and young and mid-career contemporary artists known for their refreshing sensibilities, have been carefully selected from the pieces owned by the Hoki Museum, which is an art museum dedicated to realism. Realism is the attempt to depict subjects accurately through close observation and sophisticated techniques to represent light, air, the passage of time, and even the signs of life exactly as they appear. We hope that viewers will enjoy this ultimate collection of realist art, which reveals the thoughts of artists when observing subjects with a keen eye to embody their very essence.
